3 Essential Oils for Lungs, Chest & Head
Basic Uses of Essential Oils
Direct Inhalation:
Put a few drops on a tissue and inhale repeatedly until desired effect is achieved.
Steam inhalation:
Drop 2-4 drops of essential oil into basin or bowl of hot water with a thick towel over your head- great for sinus and ear congestion!
Diffusor:
Drop 5-10 drops into water of a diffusor with a heat source.
Bath:
Add 3-8 drops to a warm bath. Swish water vigorously before entering. For a foot bath soak feet for 10 minutes.
Massage:
Always dilute essential oils in a carrier oil when applying topically. I like sesame or coconut oil. Use 20 drops per 1 oz of fatty carrier oil ( a 3% dilution) A lotion or cream may also be used. Massage into affected area (chest, temples, forehead, nape, muscles) The same dilution may be used for whole body massage.

They Are often used for chest conditions and is classic decongestant for chest rubs and steam inhalations. Also, an excellent tonic for those easily prone to sickness in general.
1. EUCALYPTUS
Lung, Bladder
Functions:
Releases exterior, dispels wind-heat and stops cough
Clears heat, cools the Lung and transforms phlegm
Vaporizes phlegm and strengthens the mind
Actions:
Expectorant, antitussive, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory
Indications:
Viral and bacterial upper respiratory infections (Including sinusitis, acute rhinitis, flu, bronchitis) coughing with sputum

THYME
Lungs, Spleen, Kidneys
Functions:
Transforms phlegm and stops cough
Tonifies the Spleen and augments the Qi
Tonifies the Kidney and fortifies the yang
Indications:
Many viral, bacterial, and fungal infections, fatigue, poor concentration, cerebral insufficiency with depression, diabetes, intestinal parasites, amenorrhea, frigidity, impotence.
Actions:
Broad-spectrum anti-infective (immunostimulant, anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, detoxicant), antiparasitic, nervous restorative, topical analgesic, uterine tonic, aphrodisiac.
3. ROSEMARY
Lung, Spleen, Heart, Kidney
Functions:
Tonifies the Lung and Spleen Qi, and vaporizes phlegm to strengthen the mind
Warms the interior, dispels colds, lifts mind, promotes menstruation
Releases the exterior, dispels wind-cold and opens the sinuses
Indications:
Hypoactive and cold conditions with mental deficiencies, fatigue, cold extremities, adrenal deficiency, heart weakness with hypotension, arterial insufficiency with cold extremities, poor memory.
Actions:
Muscle relaxant, analgesic, cardiotonic, hypertensive, arterial stimulant, liver stimulant, an adrenal stimulant.
