4 Ways to Soak up the Season
Give yourself permission-
Give yourself permission to not be busy. Many of us actually feel guilty when we are not constantly doing something. We feel uncomfortable when our time is not fully occupied. What am I supposed to be doing right now? Is a common question we ask ourselves. Taking time to relax is not laziness. It is an investment in our health and well-being.
2. Be Present-
So many of us shift into auto piolet as we go about our day. Take the time to sit down when you eat and chew your food thoroughly instead of eating mindlessly. Pay attention when you drive. Listen when people are talking to you. It’s amazing how much more you can enjoy life when you aren’t just going through the motions.
3. Schedule downtime-
Literally. Get out your calendar and create an event called downtime. Or call it something similar to remind you to take time for yourself. It may feel counterintuitive, but when things get crazy, it’s especially important to carve out downtime for yourself. Even small blocks of time are beneficial. Reading a good book, getting acupuncture, or just finding a quiet space to sit, breathe, and reflect. Make the relaxing part of life a priority.
Sometimes even when we make time to relax or focus on the present moment our mind can wander or feel anxiousness in your body these things can distract from the present moment and can prevent you from feeling restored or connected to the experience of now. That is why I have chosen a food-grade herb that has the function of calming the spirit. There are plenty of triggers and sources of the anxiety of the present moment and as we find ourselves indoors it can be difficult to shift gears. The mind sometimes doesn’t follow the plan.
